Christopher Blaney

Christopher is a pianist, private teacher, and lifelong learner with a deep passion for music and education.  He brings a wide-ranging musical background and an unconventional career path to his teaching, blending classical training, modern styles, and real-world experience into a dynamic and approachable method for students of all levels.  Christopher approaches each lesson with focusing on fostering a strong musical foundation, teaching essential piano techniques, music theory, and developing students’ confidence in their playing.

Christopher began piano lessons in grade school and later expanded his musical journey in college, where he joined a vocal jazz ensemble, studied collegiate-level piano, and taught himself guitar and bass.  Over the years, he’s explored everything from classical and jazz to pop, metal, and composition, even contributing piano performances to a professional metal album.

Outside of music, Christopher has worked as a lead systems engineer in the radio and signal intelligence sector and managed an artisanal bread bakery, which shaped his belief in curiosity, discipline, and creativity.  Through it all, music remained his central passion, and now it’s the foundation of his full-time work as a piano educator.

Christopher’s teaching focuses on building a strong musical foundation, confidence in playing, and a deep understanding of technique and theory.  He encourages students to ask questions, explore different genres, and grow at their own pace.  The goal is to help each student understand not just what to play, but why.

Whether you’re a total beginner or looking to refine your skills, Christopher is excited to guide you on your musical journey.

Studio Lessons

Whether you're looking for weekly instruction, a one-time session, or a focused consultation, my studio is a space where you can grow musically in a supportive, engaging environment. Lessons are tailored to your needs — whether you're a beginner, returning player, or developing musician working through classical repertoire, pop, jazz, or even metal.

If you’re a returning student, go ahead and book your next lesson.

If you're a first-time student interested in ongoing lessons, I recommend scheduling a 45-minute or 1-hour consultation so we can talk through your goals and build a plan that fits your musical path.

If you have a specific topic or piece you'd like to focus on, there will be a section in the booking form where you can share details. You can also email any materials (like sheet music) after booking.

Private Lessons

Prefer to learn from the comfort of your own home? I also offer in-home piano lessons, where I travel to you for a personalized, one-on-one session in your familiar space. In-home lessons are a great option for families with young students, busy schedules, or anyone who feels most at ease playing at home. I bring the same structured, supportive, and engaging approach to your living room that I do in my studio — complete with a focus on technique, theory, creativity, and confidence-building.
